RB: Idea 1

A person is eating breakfast or doing their make-up getting ready to leave the house. At first everything would seem normal, but as the scene goes on small clues are given to the audience that this character has murdered someone in the house, for example, a bloody hand print on a wall or a smashed window or other sign of a struggle. The camera follows them as they go to leave the house, but when the door has closed, it suddenly cuts down to several seemingly dead bodies in a cellar. The opening ends with the camera zooming up on the face of one of the bodies and when it reaches an ECU of their face, the eyes open and the title appears on the screen.

  1. I really like this idea, especially the clues, but maybe we could make the bodies into a lake, instead of a cellar ?

  2. This is really good, I was just thinking that an alternative to zooming in (or maybe we could use both) would be have the ECU out of focus and then swim into focus to replicate the movement of the water if the body is in a lake? And then as it comes into focus have the eyes open? :)

  3. If we do put them into a lake though we have to consider the eyes opening, as it is unlikely they would have survived underwater!

  4. I also really like the lake idea and Chloe's out of focus idea! I was also thinking it could be made up of the scene after the murder with quick flashbacks to the murder scene (this could be done in the house or with the bodies being left in the lake).

  5. Well if we had the body half in and half out of the lake, like maybe in the shallows at the edge tangled in some weeds or something, so at first it's partially obscured the eyes could open as the face could still be above water

Flashbacks are good, but they'd have to be really quick, like half a second, because we don't want to give too much away!

  6. That's the sort of thing I was thinking about with flashbacks. For example if the murderer picked up a knife to cut some toast, it could have a really quick flashback to the person holding the knife covered in blood after just killing someone.

  7. YES! That is brilliant, maybe have a really quick scream or discordant high pitched unnatural noise playing during the flashback? Or heighten the contrast in the flashback so if there is blood it looks brighter and more stark against the background?
