FK: Example 2 of an Opening Sequence

Shutter Island (Scorsese 2010)
  • Although I chose not focus on the opening sequence for this film, I did find some things I really liked during the rest of the  film that I would be interested in adopting into our film.
  • Firstly was the fantastic use of soundtracks through out. The use of orchestral, usually string, music builds up the tension, and allows the audience to be aware that a climatic scene is about to take place.
  • Secondly was the use of water as the dumping ground for the bodies. As a viewer I found the floating bodies chilling. It is also different from the typical use of burying or just leaving the bodies somewhere. I thought we could incorporate this into our own horror film.
